BROKEN RITES

Report from the Treasurer

Summer 2012                                               AGM 2011/12

Again I have to report a difficult year financially for Broken Rites,  In spite of our having cancelled all advertising since last March, our expenditure has again exceeded our income, and we have had to draw on our reserves!

Our thanks go to Janine who has worked tirelessly for the Parish Appeal, but with local churches also experiencing a reduction in income, their donations were lower than usual, if at all!  Even so we do thank those churches who continue to support this necessary work year on year.

During 2012 I understand we are putting Parish Appeal on hold, and are concentrating on the Bishops’ Appeal’.  Please pray that we may receive a good response, as Broken Rites cannot go on as at present using reserves for running costs.

I would like to thank our auditors Johann  and Frieda  who braved the bad weather in early February to travel to me to do the annual audit for our accounts.

With regret I must stand down as Treasurer this year, so I do pray that there is someone out there who is willing and able to take on this necessary work.  I have enjoyed the challenge as I love working with figures; but unfortunately a number of health problems are limiting what I can do now.  Having been on Broken Rites Committee for seven years, five as Newsletter Editor and two as Treasurer, I shall certainly miss my involvement with the group, but hope to keep in touch with the many friends I have made.

God bless you all,

Jean
