Winter 2009

Update

It has been a while since I wrote asking for material for the Archive.  Two years ago we began to store our historical documents at the Church of England Record Centre – items which will be of interest in years to come and which need safe keeping now.  These things will give an insight into aspects of life in the Churches which may well not be recorded in other places.  Much of this material is confidential and may not be used for research for 70 years.

Since then I have been gradually collecting more papers – though I have not had very many.  I would like to be able to send more stuff to the C of E Record Centre in 2010, to update the picture of Broken Rites and clergy marriage that they are holding for us.  So if anyone has letters, papers, press cuttings or pictures I would be most grateful to receive them.     As so much of our correspondence is now carried out by email – CD-roms of such material would be fine.

Remember

I would be very glad if any contributions could be dated – and a note made of their source if this isn’t immediately obvious.  I look forward to lots of your ‘stuff’. I am collecting newspaper cuttings, photographs, correspondence and records of our activities, and all our newsletters and Annual Reports. Sensitive and personal material will be kept locked way I should be grateful if members would not throw away old papers photos and cuttings without consultation as to whether they may be of historical interest.
