Book review
Watching for the Kingfisher
Ann Lewin is an accomplished poet who is much in demand as a retreat leader. Before retirement she worked both at Southampton University and tutoring ordinands at Sarum College in Salisbury.
This small book of her poems is a treasure house, to be visited frequently and taken slowly. The poems are short – some as short as three lines, but they speak straight to the heart. They are about ordinary things of life, but they make you view them in a different way. Ann is a birdwatcher and her poems often reflect this and her love of nature.
Of Ann’s poetry Bishop Graham James wrote:
Ann’s poetry always leaves me feeling I inhabit a larger world as a result of reading it…..she helps illuminate reality with new shafts of light.
